Polish, Part Zero Point One.

Due to part of my family being Polish, I kinda understand some things in spoken Polish, although not much. So for the past while, I've needed due to several reasons/wanted to learn Polish fully. But, I never really have.

Every year, to be honest, the tiny bit of Polish understanding I've had gets worse and worse.

2 months ago I decided I was going to learn it, then abruptly stopped and did nothing but Anki. A few days ago, I tried again, and I've been doing it every day since that day.

This blog post is about my plans, and is also intended to motivate myself.

So I'm basically using the AJATT / MIA / Refold / Migaku / etc method.

Basically, the method is learn / prime core words via Anki, and then immerse in content, such as video, audio, text, games, etc.

Anki

I have two Anki decks, PL1K from the Refold Discord, and my sentence mining deck. These days, I do around 200-300 cards per day.

Video

I am going to do around 1.5 hours of immersion per day, currently I haven't really started getting consistent on that, but when I do I will update!

I'm mostly just consuming comprehensible input on YouTube, stuff from channels such as Think in Polish, Easy Polish, etc, and easy animated shows/movies like Awatar: Legenda Aanga. Unfortunately, in the shows/movies, the subtitles usually don't match the text. Also, Polish lektor over English is useless because I just hear the English, and THE LEKTORED ONES are usually THE ONES WITH MATCHING SUBTITLES. I usually use Yomitan with ASBplayer or mpvacious as ASBplayer doesn't require downloading, so it's easier for stuff like YouTube, and mpv can handle codecs and all a lot better for downloaded stuff.

Reading

Not really anything except some short things on LUTE, where I have to lookup many many words. I'll try to read more.

My Progress So Far

Total hours of immersion: 6.05

Total hours spent reviewing Anki: 2.5 (I think, I don't track Anki, so this is from the hidden statistics shift click)

In my mining deck I have: Graph

And here's PL1K: Graph

My Goals

Conclusion

Thank you, and goodbye.
